Sandhill Crane Paddle in Acrylic
Acrylic on repurposed wooden paddle, 8x24”
The Subject
I love repurposing things. One day my dad was about to throw away an old, wooden paddle, but I couldn’t let that wonderful wooden canvas go to waste. So, I decided to paint a Sandhill crane on it. Every once in a while, a huge flock of Sandhill cranes migrates over our house. If you’re quiet, you can hear their calls as they fly in a “V” formation hundreds of feet above.
The Process
The process for this painting was fairly straightforward. Using craft acrylic paint, I painted the scenery first and then the Sandhill crane. The whole thing took about 3 hours.
