Hi, I’m Sophie! I’m a Nashville-based musician, artist, and naturalist.

Song of the Way

Song of the Way

I wrote this song while I was hiking the Camino del Norte (Camino de Santiago). The words and the tune came to me as I was walking the windy mountaintops between Mondoñedo and Abadín. When you hear this song, I hope you feel the joy of wind on your face and freedom in your heart. I hope this inspires you to chase your dreams, live open-handed, and take in the beauty all around you.

[Intro]

Verse 1

I’m flying in the feeling of the wind

Feel the rhythm of my footsteps as I walk this road again

The sky is calling, clearer, bluer still

The trees look like a castle on a distant hill

Prechorus

I will walk and run on this open road

As I soak up sunshine’s rays

Oh, I roam and wander

Through the hills and valleys

For these, are, the days

Chorus

Stonechats are calling from every fencepost

I’ve been walking this country coast to coast

Burdens are falling each mile of the way

I’ve finally found the place where tomorrow meets today

Verse 2

Rippling fields like shimmering waves, rolling in the breeze

Ladies gloves and turtle doves are putting me at ease.

Fields spread out like a patchwork quilt, my dreams are free to roam

My wandering feet and traveling heart have finally found their home.

[Chorus]

Verse 3

Clouds billow in like tumbleweeds, white mountains in the sky

Their towering peaks are crystal clear four thousand feet up high.

Wild horses running, throwing caution to the wind

Feels so good to be alive and freely breathe again.

[Chorus]

Bridge

And far away where mountains touch the sky

Unraveling traveling the unknown they’re free and so am I

[Chorus]
