A Weekend in Waco, Texas
My mom, aunt, and I have been talking about doing a trip to Waco for years. The weekend before my twenty-fourth birthday, we packed our bags, turned up the Hall and Oates, and headed south!
Seeing the Silos in person for the first time was like something from a dream. The whole place was as storybook as we had imagined.
My mom, delighted to be at Silos
Walking into each store was like opening up a present. Everything was so charmingly curated and lovely!
We got lunch from the food trucks…
…then spent the whole afternoon shopping.
“I’m in my happy place,” said Aunt Lesa.
All three of us were!
Gathering inspiration for my future home
There were so many beautiful things to see. I felt just like a little kid!
Hello, flowers!
We visited the rose garden…
And the greenhouse!
And of course we went to the bakery for cupcakes.
Toasted Coconut, the Chocolatier, and Shiplap cupcakes from the Silos Baking Co.
They were melt-in-your-mouth good! (Photo credit to Aunt Lesa ;)
While there was a lot to see, there were plenty of quiet, open spaces to balance the noise and busyness. The Old Church, a restored 1894 chapel, was one of them.
The Old Church. You could actually go inside!
We left Silos late that afternoon with treasures in our bags and hearts full of inspiration.
On Saturday we explored other areas of interest around Waco: the farmer’s market in the Bridge District, antiques and boutiques on the square, and a few consignment stores.
My favorite boutique of the day, Simply Irresistible
To finish our trip, we had dinner at the one and only Magnolia Table.
My mom and her smashburger, ha!
It was a lovely experience. What a time!
This trip was not just a fun weekend girls’ trip. It was something more… it was evidence of what God can do when you trust Him with your dream. Here is one of my favorite quotes by Joanna Gaines:
“God, I trusted You with my dream, and you’ve taken it far beyond what I ever could have dreamed or imagined.”
I believe we all have dreams that were given to us by God—something unique and beautiful that only we can offer the world in such a time as this. I left Waco feeling encouraged to pursue the dreams that He has given me, holding it all with open hands and for God’s glory. Let all that I do bring glory to Him.
