Camino del Norte Day 16: Santillana del Mar to Comillas
May 5, 2025
Last night at the convent I dreamt I walked into a warm bakery, and I could smell the buttery aroma of freshly-baked bread and pastries as soon as I opened up the door. The shelves were laden with the freshest, plumpest, most abundant supply of pastries and croissants I had ever seen. I dreamt a second time, and this time I was at home in my garden. It was harvest time, and I there was such an abundant harvest, greater than I had ever seen. I woke up well-rested, refreshed, and full of joy, ready for the day ahead.
The weather was rather dismal and dreary all day, but I didn’t mind. I passed a snail on the Camino… several snails, in fact. There were so many snails on the trail that I had to be careful not to step on them. Unfortunately I did accidentally step on one, which I felt terrible about.
