September Leaves
September leaves of red and green
Sway lightly in the gentle breeze.
Slender maple, golden yellow
Soothes my mood to something mellow.
The scarlet oak, ablaze of fall,
Accents cedars, short and tall.
The skies azure host clouds afloat,
And basswood stems make little boats.
Soft, sad music the meadowlark sings,
O’re golden field its melody rings.
A crisp, burnt wind around me blows;
Along with it the summer goes.
Goodbye, goodbye, oh summer days!
With it the bees; the yellow haze.
September’s here; she calls to me,
“Come out and see all God’s beauty!”
