A Season of Abundance
Although I am loving my life at college, going home puts the wind in my sails like nothing else.
My mom and I spent the afternoon enjoying a cup of coffee together, winterizing the flowerbeds, picking the last produce from the garden, making chili, and catching up. To end the evening, we all had dinner around the campfire as we listened to the bone-chilling calls of coyotes in the frosty night air.
This is the first year the vegetable garden has really flourished. The cherry tomato plant was so laden with tomatoes that it looked like a grapevine, and Andrew’s single asparagus bean plant yielded yards and yards of beans (to the dismay of everyone but Andrew).
But more than just our garden has flourished this year. Our family has grown stronger and closer as we have navigated struggles together. I know our relationships aren’t perfect and never will be, but we are all devoted to growth.
Just like a garden, our relationships will grow and flourish when we diligently water them. Maybe we can’t see the growth from one day to the next, but our roots are growing ever deeper nonetheless.
